Fete founders, Basil and Kelly, always dreamed of pursuing a business together and putting their business degrees to good use. As their family grew, following the birth of their first son in 2015, it became clear that they wanted to focus on meeting the needs of children and families.
One of Kelly’s greatest joys is organizing parties. She quickly became known among her friends in Riyadh as the person who brought people together and never missed a chance to celebrate. She loved creating special moments for her expanding family, in the same traditions as she grew up with, and creating new memories with her children and friend group.
As she became more experienced with throwing parties in Riyadh, she found it more difficult than expected. Finding the theme she wanted or even a complete set from the themes available required ordering from overseas and driving around the city to multiple store locations. Throwing a simple party required too much time, effort and thought!
They made the most of the Covid lockdown in 2020, which was when they seriously started brainstorming their Fete concept. With market research and consumer feedback, the business evolved, until they settled on the model they felt would meet their customers’ needs best. They assembled a team in their Olaya headquarters and together they got to work on bringing this idea to life.
Basil and Kelly felt certain that many Riyadh is faced similar frustration and exhaustion when planning their own parties. Thus came the idea for Fete! The concept? To provide a one-stop shop where anyone who was looking for party supplies could find them same locally and hassle-free.
Together with their team, Basil and Kelly’s passion for helping their customers bring the party they wished for to life, is what drives the purpose of Confetti.
